How long have you been with CX? I’ve been working for CX for 10 months.
What are your previous titles? From last August to March, I was working as a consultant for CX’s advertising and branding. As of March 2012, I have moved to Scottsdale from Atlanta under the title “Branding and Digital Marketing strategist.”
What is your typical day like? I have many duties in the realm of marketing and branding -– I find myself working on different types of projects each week. Typically, I will work on graphics, including anything that is posted on our social media feeds. I also edit and prepare content for the website, such as landing pages, promotional material and images. On the branding side of things, I am responsible for curating our brand image and making sure that everyone in the company has a way of acquiring images that are brand-appropriate — you could call me the “brand police.”
Why does working in the cloud sharing field interest you? Being a bit of a digital hoarder, over the years I have saved thousands of photos, videos and documents over several hard drives. These files include cherished memories of family and friends -– most of who live on the other side of the planet, and just the thought of losing all those files makes me break out into a sweat. Cloud storage alleviates the need for me to stack hard drives on my shelf and gives me the peace of mind that even if I spill a cup of tea over my laptop, my files will be safe and sound. I think that cloud storage, while in an infant stage right now, will grow to become a great tool for people around the world, and I’m incredibly excited to be a part of the industry.
What do you use CX for? I use CX to make sure all my graphics and content are available to my marketing team so they don’t have to worry about tracking things down when they need them. I also use CX at home to automatically collect and share files and images with my friends across the USA.
What’s your favorite part about CX? My favorite part of CX is the desktop app folder syncing ability. When I work on several advertisements at once, I can just assign the output to a specific folder, and they will all be uploaded without me having to worry that I missed anything.
What’s your favorite food? My favorite food would have to be sushi rice with Tonkatsu, which is a Japanese-style pork schnitzel.
What’s your favorite band or musician? While I don’t think I have a “favorite band,” I enjoy Kid Cudi, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Thievery Corporation, and Flying Lotus, amongst a few.
What’s your favorite movie? My favorite movie would have to be Contact. The story was written by one of my personal heroes, Carl Sagan: “For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love.” Gets me every time.
What are three of your favorite websites to visit, and why do you visit each one? There are a few websites I couldn’t live without: Reddit, StumbleUpon, and YouTube. The Internet is such a fantastic tool to research new things, and among those three sites, I have learned so much — though they do have a tendency to prevent me from sleeping.
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you? People are usually surprised by how culturally diverse my family is. My mother’s side of the family is German and English, and my father’s is dominantly Greek, but they were both born and raised in South Africa. I have family in France, Australia, Germany, Greece, South Africa, and now Japan, as well. Makes family reunions quite a task!
