Current location: Austin, Texas

Hometown: Born in Jackson, Mississippi, but I consider Finnytown, Ohio to be my home town.

How long have you been with CX? I have been here pretty close to the beginning — about 18 months right now. When I first started, there were four or five of us in total, and we all wore many hats. It is fun and exciting to watch CX grow.

What is your typical day like? As Director of Product Management, I have an opportunity to work with just about everyone throughout the company. My job involves understanding the market and their needs. From there, I then work closely with our development team to determine which needs we are well-suited to meet. While the development team builds out the solution, I then get to work with our marketing team to ensure we get the word out to the right people in the right way.

Why does working in the cloud sharing field interest you? My background is in computer science and software development, so technology has been part of my work from the beginning. But when I think about the future and the possibilities, the cloud is involved in every part. We are connected all the time, and the idea that we need to be tied to a particular computer or location is old and outdated.

I am reading Accelerando, by Charles Stross, and some of the ideas presented in this sci-fi book relate to the idea of having access to endless information. Having it stored is step one, and CX makes that happen.

I am always looking for people willing to share with me about how they go about their day and what frustrations they encounter while trying to interact with their friends, family and their work. So, if anyone is interested, reach out on twitter @WillLowrey.

What do you use CX for? Pretty much everything. I travel a decent amount, and knowing that I have all of my work files available on CX means I don’t have to stress about moving files around. I can get them on my phone, my iPad or my laptop. It also gives me a constant back-up of my work.

Also, I have a family that is pretty spread out, so we use CX for sharing photos and we even have a CX Group for keeping in touch across three different timezones. The real-time chat with endless history comes in handy.

What’s your favorite part about working at CX? There is no shortage of challenges within our business objectives. Every day, we have new achievements to accomplish, and that makes working at CX exciting for me.

What’s your favorite food? A good cheeseburger.

What’s your favorite band or musician? I enjoy a broad range of music, and it really depends on what I am doing. I enjoy Bjork, Mumford & Sons, and, at times, I like to go back and enjoy some old tunes with Red Hot Chili Peppers.

What’s your favorite movie? The Matrix.

What are three of your favorite websites to visit, and why do you visit each one?  Google Reader, because there is much that I need to learn, and Google Reader brings so much of what I am interested in to a single place. TED.com — Ted Talks keep me inspired and consistently deliver high-value content. Pandora, because I don’t like people talking to me on the radio when I am trying to work — and I am horrible at finding my own music selections.

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you? I attended the International School of Kenya when I was younger and still keep in touch with a number of my friends who now live all over the globe.

Dear Director Will Lowrey, I have started using my Cx account about a month or two ago. and I quite like it. it's quite intuitive and the storage space it is bigger than some more famous competitors. there are a couple of things that can be improved: for example it would be really handy if the zipline would work with any kind of files, or at least with compressed files and not only media files. and if it would be possible to have link to share and entire folder and not only files. because i like cx and the free service is providing i suggested to several friends and at least few of them joined attracted by the dimension of the storage. so good for you. when i like something i share something. now i have something to offer to you: i would translate all the contents of your website for free in my native language: italian. as volunteer job, completely for free. why i would do this you are thinking? because i like your service and at the same time i'm a freelance italian teacher and translator. and in a moment so critical for EU and my country especially being proactive and creating new contact it's important and useful, and it's a free development for my cv. even if for free sometime. of course i'd be more than happy to show you my cv and qualifications in order to guaratee you a professional and high quality work. italy it's unfortunately a country where the level of english is very very low and i'm totally sure a free italian localization will help expading your business. best regards Alessandro Giovinazzo Reply

Hi, Alesandro! Thank you so much for the feedback and for the comment--we've passed on your CX Zipline feedback to the lead developer and wanted to let you know we're constantly adding more supported types to Zipline--music is in the near-future. You can currently share links on the website by using the "view online" button, and folder sharing is coming soon. If you have more feedback, please be sure to share it here: https://www.cx.com/ziplinefeedback/. As for your note on the translation, be on the lookout for an e-mail from us, and thank you so much for the offer. Thanks! Reply
