Scroll down for the Spanish version.

When we go to a store to buy something, the first sense we use is sight. It’s well-known that if we go to a bakery and see a pastry, if we like how it looks, we’re more likely to buy it than if we see a poor-looking croissant. In the online world, it’s the same — people want to see the product, and if they like how it looks in the pictures, well done! If not, a change is needed.

The way to face the photographic work depends on what product is being offered, if there is an online store, or if there is just a website showing the physical store. Ultimately, everyone wants the same thing, to give a great impression and sell as much possible.

With an online store, the main objective is to show the product being sold. Sometimes when I visit an online store, I see poor shots that only result in losing buyers. Get better results by taking care of the details: framing, point of view (POV), background, lighting, sharpening and white balance. I’ll show some examples using my Nokia 808, and I’m going to explain a little bit about the details’ importance to me, as a photographer and possible customer. (more…)
